Es ist soweit: Sonntag = Classictag. Ab Heute werde ich jeden Sonntag den Classic der Woche posten. Kritik und Anregungen gerne in der Shoutbox posten.

Anfang des neuen Jahrtausends. Hip Hop hatte seinen Höhepunkt und die Plattenlabels gaben jedem auch nur halbwegs talentierten Rapper einen Plattenvertrag. Die Meistens sind mitlerweile verschwunden. Nelly hingegen weilt immer noch unter uns. Begonnen hat alles mit seinem Megahit "Ride Wit Me". Und der Song ist einfach nicht tot zu kriegen. Der Grund ist relativ einfach: es geht nicht um den typischen "Ich-bin-so-Gangsta"-Rap sondern einfach um Spass. Und genau das merkt man dem Song an. Unglaublicher Beat, Party-Chorus und auch nach zig-maligem Hören wird der Song nicht langweilig.

Do you remember when Hip Hop was on top of the music business? In the beginning of the 20th century, labels signed every more or less talented rapper. Most of them are gone, but Nelly survived the struggle. His career began with his hit "Ride Wit Me". Most people say this is probably his best song release in his entire career. Anyway, "Ride Wit Me" is timeless. The beat is awesome, it is not a typical "I-am-the-biggest-gangsta"-Rap but a great party tune. Let's thank Nelly for this classic of Hip-Hop and let's hope there will be at least one more incredible tune.
